Duta Garden Hotel

We come from Europe, but our family lives in Yogyakarta, so we visit Indonesia regularly and have spent a lot of time here. For the price this hotel asks, I don't think you'll find anything close to its quality and hygiene. You can find European high-level hotels in Indonesia, but they cost at least five or ten times as much, and you'd lose some of the authenticity. We keep coming back because this hotel covers the basic needs we Europeans have at a very reasonable price. It's also one of the few hotels with clean sheets, freshly washed towels, and some European breakfast food like bread and cornflakes. If the quality and hygiene stay at this level, we'll always come back.

The hotel is lovingly maintained, with large, bright, very clean rooms. We spent eight nights in a superior room and had an amazing stay. Staff were super friendly and went out of their way to help guests. It's on a quiet side street, but bars and restaurants are only a five-minute walk away. This is Jawa, so be aware that mosques use loudspeakers regularly. That's part of life here, though the prayer calls sounded subdued inside the rooms. Duta Garden will definitely be my go-to hotel in Yogyakarta. Thanks to all the staff.

The room was okay, though the bathroom door handle was broken. Breakfast was good, and it was handy having a lock box for passports. Staff were very helpful.

The pool was lovely, and the waterfall was beautiful to look at and relaxing to hear. The rooms were clean, and the ladies at the front desk were helpful. The location is strategic, with lots of cafes, bars, and restaurants within walking distance. Rooms feel a bit dated and need a revamp, especially the bathroom. I like an open bathroom when the windows have nets. Without them, you're at the mercy of the mosquitos!
