Hotel Museum Batik

A nice place for families. The batik workshop is both fun and educational, and suits kids and teenagers well.

We really enjoyed the batik session at the Batik Museum. We weren't staying at the hotel, just came for the workshop, and it was relaxing and fun. We learned a lot about batik, and the people there were kind and knew their stuff. Definitely recommend making time for it in Yogyakarta. We wouldn't have wanted to miss it!

I visited to buy batik, not to stay at the hotel. The fabric prices were fixed. A man helped me and spoke very good English, but he was a bit flirtatious. He kept taking photos of me, encouraged me to stay longer in Yogyakarta, and I had to insist that he stop photographing me. I finished buying things with a woman who didn't speak English. He made me uncomfortable.

I went on my own to a Batik workshop yesterday. I just showed up, and they taught me what to do while explaining the meaning behind the batik as we went. I felt really well guided, and it was so relaxing. The staff are lovely, there are lots of options, and I'd definitely say go here!! :))
