Try the banana pancakes at breakfast, they’re absolutely delicious! The hostel also has free water and coffee near the rooms, available all day. Our room was clean and very comfortable, with a nice balcony. It’s in a quiet, lovely alley, just a few minutes’ walk from Malioboro street. The owner was super friendly and gave us plenty of suggestions for things to do in Jogja and nearby.

The water machine made so much noise. I found the owner unfriendly, and the rules should all be listed in the description. After we paid for the room, our right to stay shouldn’t be limited. If you don’t want your holiday ruined, look for better accommodation.

Johnny and his family were helpful and friendly, and the banana pancake breakfast was very good. For a couple, it costs only 10 Euros per night, with bottled water, decent wifi, and as much tea as you like. Still, don’t be taken in by the 4-plus star reviews. I didn’t find it a great place: it was cramped, noisy, and smelly, with no hot water, no proper external window, and no air conditioning. I hope Johnny & his family can invest in the place and improve it.

The hosts are friendly and make a good breakfast for 20k per person. You can also rent a motorbike for 80k a day. The location is handy, close to both Malioboro and Tugu train station.

For the same price, I think you can find a much better place nearby. This room felt very old and was too small. The bathroom was tiny, barely enough space to stand, with no AC. There was a small window, but it couldn't be opened.
