Malioboro Garden Hotel

There was no car parking spot, so you have to pay IDR 70 k per day to park on a nearby street. The bathroom was bad, and the bedroom was small.

The location is excellent, on a quiet narrow street near Malioboro Street, and the staff are very nice. They rent motorcycles at reasonable prices too. But the cleaning was a serious problem. The mirror and sink were so dirty they were barely usable, hot water didn't work, and there were stains on the walls, towels, and sheets. It felt like the room, especially the bathroom, hadn't been cleaned after the previous checkout. The Indonesian-style breakfast looked good until I found a worm in my rice and vegetables. It was the most disappointing hotel of my trip through Indonesia. I don't think it's worth it, since you can find other clean, decent places in the area.

The room was reasonably clean and the water pressure was fine, though the towels looked old. There was nowhere to store bags, just a table under the basic wall TV, and no chair. Bathroom supplies were sparse, only a toothbrush and a small soap, and I had to ask specifically for tissue. I really think tissue in the room or bathroom should be standard. The hotel sits right in central Malioboro, but down an alley you can only reach on foot or by bike or motorbike. It works well enough if you mainly need somewhere to sleep between plans outside or a business trip. There isn't much to enjoy at the hotel itself. Breakfast was fair for the price: plain rice, local dishes, fruit (watermelon both days for me), water, and sweet tea. Coffee and cappuccino cost extra, even though it's instant sachet coffee.

They tracked down the AirPods we left behind and arranged a Grab delivery to the next hotel. Really grateful for their kindness and honesty!
