Metro Malioboro Living

The room was comfortable and fine. The bathroom wasn’t as nice as the room, but still good enough for the price. We rented a scooter for 80k, which seemed fair. I couldn’t find the Wi-Fi anywhere, so keep that in mind if you really need it.

For the money, you couldn’t ask for more, but the photos on booking.com and other websites don’t show what it’s really like. The rooms are very dated. Ours had grey walls, cracks, and cobwebs, and felt like a prison cell. Staff were friendly and very attentive when we asked for things. It might be okay for one night, but the longer you stay, the more ants get into your belongings. There’s a serious ant infestation. There are also fish and a turtle in a fountain, plus birds in a cage, which seemed a bit cruel. It’s not close to anything worth visiting either, so we had to take a taxi to get anywhere decent.

The staff were nice, and they provided water, but the room was in rough shape. It had no fridge or toilet paper, no housekeeping, and ants everywhere. The bathroom looked pretty battered too. The hotel is far from the main streets, so I had to take a taxi everywhere. There was also a turtle kept in the garden fountain, which felt cruel.

I found it comfortable and a little different from the usual places to stay. The building has rooms facing an open courtyard, with a few upstairs, plus a roomy lounge, dining area, and a breezy terrace. Coffee and tea are available free in the morning and afternoon. My room was spacious, clean, and comfortable, with a cupboard, desk and chair, bedside table, and wall-mounted TV table. The bathroom was roomy too, with a solid toilet and hot shower. Some of the furniture and parts of the building look worn, though it seems to have been around a long time. It’s tucked among residential complexes on a neighborhood road, so it can be tricky to find, but Google Maps pinpointed it for me. It’s a little beyond central Malioboro, though there’s a closer route there by car or on foot. A traditional market nearby has daily essentials, fruit, snacks, and street food. The bathroom setup made me think it may be aimed at foreign tourists.
