RedDoorz at Golden Inn Tugu Yogyakarta

For under IDR 200K, the room size is impressive. At IDR 180K, I got 225 sq-ft, with a very large bed that wasn’t particularly comfortable. The AC kept the room below 22°C when it was around 30°C outside. The location is handy too, about five minutes from the train station and Marlioboro, and 15 minutes from the airport. There’s gated parking for both motorcycles and cars, but you have to tell the front desk every time you want to leave. Staff were fairly friendly, especially the older morning gardener, who’d greet me when I opened the window. Some staff sleep in the lobby at night, though, and don’t seem very professional. The room felt dated, and the lighting wasn’t bright enough for serious work at night. The Wi-Fi wasn’t very fast. The separate water heater for each room has a small tank and weak power, so don’t expect a hot shower for more than three minutes. There’s just one outlet at the desk, shared by the kettle, TV, and laptop charger.
