Sare Hotel Yogyakarta (Muslim Friendly)

The room and building felt old, and there was an unpleasant smell. I had to ask housekeeping the next day for shampoo and body soap, since neither was provided. The AC didn't cool the room well: after running it at 16°C for two hours, the room still wasn't cooler. My room was listed as having a “garden view,” but the window was only about a person's width and faced a hallway, with the outside beyond it. The curtains were fixed on both sides, so I couldn't open them or see outside. A creepy red stain near the bathroom light switch also made me uncomfortable. The location was the one good point, close to the station and downtown.

I was meant to stay one night at Sare Hotel, but ended up adding another, so I stayed two. I liked my first-floor room because it was clean, tidy, and smelled nice. The pool wasn't too deep, which worked for me and the children. Breakfast was standard, but I appreciated the staff making it and replenishing it. The hotel is near the train station, and you can walk around the city from there.

The classic building has large rooms, helpful staff, and a lovely atmosphere. There are no elevators, so be prepared for that. I didn't have breakfast, but Gudeg and Timlo soup were easy to find within walking distance in the morning. I liked the area around the hotel.

The room was nice, and the staff were friendly. Good location too.
