My driver couldn't sleep at all in the room, which didn't meet the standard of any kind of hospitality. He said he felt like someone was watching him as he slept, though I don't know if he meant anything mystical. Because he hadn't slept, he couldn't drive me to my morning meeting, so I had to move it. I moved him to better lodging, and he's sleeping better now. Think twice before booking. This place feels like a museum, not somewhere to stay.

The family room was spacious, with a big bed, four other beds, a lounge chair, and more. The hotel itself is cool, beautiful, and roomy, and the staff were genuinely friendly. A special thanks to Mas Andi for lending me a helmet, and to Mba Regita, who always had a smile. The rest of the staff were kind too. There's a museum inside, and it's right by UIN and a mall, so you can walk wherever you want to go. It was a great stay.

For 100,000 Rupiah, this turned out to be worth it. The room was spacious with cool AC, and the sheets, pillows, and towels were clean and smelled nice. It was quite clean overall, and the location is very strategic. The water sometimes ran very slowly, and the sink even stopped working. The building is old, which might feel scary to some. I came with no expectations beyond having a comfortable place for a short stay, and at that price it works well for budget travellers in Yogyakarta. Don't compare it with the neighboring hotels.

There's more here than a hotel: it's also a rental building, the Indonesian Women's Movement Museum, and an Indonesian Women's Center offering free counseling for women who need a psychologist. I also found a school, a prayer room, and a cafe where you can relax while working. The setting is clean and beautiful, right in the heart of Yogyakarta with easy access from the road. It seems like a great affordable spot for a family holiday in the city.
