Wonderloft Hostel Jogja

Wonderloft is on a great street, with loads of food places and shops close by. They can help arrange tours too. Had a great stay!

A fun place to meet people, with nice breakfast and other amenities. The only thing I'd change is the creaky beds :)

The staff were the highlight for me, always friendly and happy to answer questions. They shared useful info about local things to do and places to stay for onward travel. The common areas made it easy to meet other travelers, and I had a lovely time with the other guests and staff. My room was clean, with great privacy curtains around each bed. The facilities were well kept, and the cozy shared spaces were nice to hang out in. Shops and cafes are nearby too. Wonderloft Hostel thought of a lot of helpful details, and I had a mostly good stay. Very recommended 😊

I booked six nights and paid a 180,000 deposit through HostelWorld. When I arrived by bus at 3am, reception told me there were bedbugs in the dorm and sent me to different accommodation for the night. I came back two days later to continue the booking, but other guests told me the bugs had spread to other rooms and advised me not to sleep there. Management wouldn't refund my deposit, even though I hadn't stayed because of the dorm problem. I understand HostelWorld held the deposit, but I think the hostel should have taken responsibility and compensated me for an issue of its own. I also saw reception checking guests into dorms despite knowing about the infestation. They changed my booking so I couldn't leave a HostelWorld review. Shameful and dishonest. Other Google reviews suggest the bedbug problem had been going on for months, and that bookings on third party platforms were repeatedly cancelled so guests couldn't leave honest reviews there. The staff and management handled this badly, and it felt disappointing and greedy. Stay elsewhere. Los Manos next door has a much better vibe.
