Brooklodge & Macreddin Village

The spa was a real highlight. Once we booked, we could use it as often as we liked, and even on a weekend it was quiet enough that we usually had the hot tub or sauna to ourselves. Our room was gorgeous, and breakfast was included and brilliant. The Italian restaurant had some of the nicest food, and the wait staff were so friendly. We were celebrating my partner's birthday, and the hotel made it feel special: they upgraded our room, reception signed a card, and the restaurant brought a birthday dessert for free. The blonde woman at the spa reception was lovely and helpful, and Ava at hotel reception was fantastic about answering all our questions. Such a lovely weekend away. I'd come back.

The grounds and scenery are lovely, and the staff were welcoming. I also found the spa clean and very nice. Our stay was fine overall, especially for the good price we got, but I doubt I'll return soon. It feels like the place may have been much better in the past and that standards are slipping. Our room hadn't been cleaned properly. There was a bag of someone else's clothes in the wardrobe, then we found lots of crisps and play dough under the bed. The bathroom was clean, though it looked old and could use refurbishment. We ate at the Italian restaurant on site. For me it was an ordinary meal and nothing I'd recommend, though that's just my opinion and other people may enjoy it. The restaurant staff weren't very friendly, but perhaps they were stressed with Christmas coming up. We stayed with my girlfriend just before Christmas for a weekend away.

The food over the weekend was incredible, with huge portions. We had 120 guests, more than 90 of whom stayed at the hotel, and everyone left saying they couldn't wait to come back. They also raved about the staff. Brooklodge felt wonderfully cosy at Christmas, and the facilities and wedding day were all 10/10 for us. We knew Brooklodge was the right place from our first enquiry. Aine, Thuanne and Sally on the weddings team were so helpful with every question, and we always felt like a priority. Aine was there from our arrival the evening before and throughout the wedding day. She handled every detail, from tables at Brookhall and decorations to bathroom baskets and guest book tables. She even sent me WhatsApp photos of the setup, which I really appreciated as an anxious bride, though looking back I needn't have worried. We've already booked our anniversary stay for this December and can't wait to return. Huge thanks to Aine, Pratul, Sally, Thuanne and everyone who made the weekend so special.

We had a fantastic long weekend in February. The place is unreal, clean and clearly well thought out, and the staff were absolutely incredible. We'll definitely go back. Well done!
