The quiet, secluded setting was just what I wanted, and Rua and I had a wonderfully relaxing four-night break at Clone House. Each day I drove about 30 minutes to Glendalough for long hikes with Rua, then we went to the very dog-friendly Wicklow Heather Restaurant in the evening, where they had heated outdoor seating. The house has lovely old-style charm, beautiful rooms and a calm feel. Its gardens are stunning, with mature trees, plants and tucked-away spots to wander through. The rooms were spotless, breakfast pancakes were delicious, and having a guest fridge for Rua's food was a thoughtful help while travelling with a dog. There were peacocks around the grounds, a duck called Alf, chickens, three lovely Arndale dogs and a tiny Maltese puppy called Luna, who stole the show. Rua loved it. Nick welcomed us at check-in, and I met his father Jeff during the stay. They were friendly, then gave us space to relax and enjoy the place in peace. One of my most relaxing breaks in a long time, ideal for anyone after nature and a genuinely dog-friendly stay.

Our whole group was impressed, and we had a wonderful family get-together over New Year 2025/6. There were 21 adults and five children, with three birthdays to celebrate. The house was privately set in its own grounds, peaceful and great for a getaway. There was ample room inside and out, and the period-style bedrooms were comfortable, clean and tastefully decorated. The kitchen handled our big family meals easily. We cooked a whole salmon on the top range, with roast beef, chicken and vegetables below. We loved the old aga, which kept hot water going and cooked our Irish fry-up alongside the main range. The house's age gave it a lovely atmosphere, and the main dining room was just the right size and cosy with the fire lit. The separate drinks room with a fridge, plus the smaller informal dining room nearby, was an added bonus. Some of us walked into Aughrim town on a cold, brisk New Year's Day for a few pre-dinner Guinness, and everyone enjoyed the craic at the friendly pub. We booked the house for a couple of nights on a self-catering basis. We got a warm welcome from the friendly staff, with a fire already lit in the front room. Special thanks to Jeff for efficient communication and to Sarah for being so helpful, friendly and thorough. Happy to give five stars for all of it.

The kids will remember that night for a long time, and every guest said it was the best party ever. We celebrated my daughter's 16th birthday at The Clone House, and couldn't have asked for more: a beautiful setting and everything went smoothly. We picked the self-catering option, but Nick thoughtfully supplied fresh eggs from their own farm for breakfast. He's a fantastic host, welcoming, attentive and genuinely helpful. There are four friendly dogs and three peacocks too, which was a special treat for animal lovers like us. Being greeted by peacocks first thing was unforgettable. We had a lovely breakfast chat with Nick, who told us about the business and life at The Clone House. It felt more like visiting family than renting a venue. So many lovely memories.

The dogs were lovely and well behaved, and Nick was friendly and accommodating. Our room was in a slightly separate part of the house, and the private sauna was a nice surprise. Breakfast was great too, especially Sarah's amazing scones. We had a lovely few-day stay.

Jeff, Nick, Sarah and the team were excellent to deal with, especially in the run-up to and on our wedding day. We recently celebrated at Clone House with 28 members of our immediate family, and they took care of the day for us. Sarah's breakfast scones deserve awards. We'd strongly recommend Clone House for an intimate family gathering or a corporate event.
