Blackwater Lodge Hotel

The food was good quality, with decent portions and fair prices, and the lady minding the bar was really friendly and attentive. We’d wandered in for a late lunch on a quiet Thursday and got a very warm welcome. The service was great, and we were well looked after. Worth a visit!

The toilets could use a clean. The place was empty when we stopped in for a quiet few pints while passing through, and two staff members were outside smoking, which didn’t give a great impression. I was going to order food but got a bad vibe and decided against it. It could be a nice place, but I didn’t take the chance. I asked for Guinness and got a different craft stout without being told. I only noticed because it looked different. Honestly, I didn’t like it. It was flat and weak, and wouldn’t hold a head. The others in my group didn’t enjoy their drinks either.

The food is very good, but the service was disorganized and the staff seemed untrained. Our food came out cold, so we had to send it back. I hope things improve because I’d like to see the place do well.

I wish a bar like this were in Bray instead of Blackwater. The food was fantastic, and the drinks are cheaper than elsewhere. They serve Brennans stout rather than Guinness for just €4.50, with beers on tap from Larkins, Rí Rá, O'Hara's and Wicklow Wolf. The Wicklow Wolf Elevation Pale Ale even costs less here than at the WW brewery. It’s reopened as a bar only, run by Brennans of Enniscorty.
