I’m still at Cronin's B&B while writing this, and couldn’t wait until I leave to share how special it’s been. The mountains and outdoor setting are breathtaking, and you can head out walking or cycle on your own. Gougane Barr, the famous national park, is only a few minutes away, with a cafe and restaurant looking over the lake and mountains that made for another lovely experience. The food has been incredible: homemade scones I’d call the best in Ireland, yogurt I’d call the best in the world, plus dinners like salmon pie, vegetarian aubergines with béchamel, and roast chicken with rosemary and butternut squash. Shani and Dennis are such a warm, kind couple, and their hospitality, along with the rooms, windows, cleanliness and food, has made this unforgettable. I travel a lot, and this is the most beautiful, clean and fascinating B&B I’ve stayed in. It feels like five-star hotel comfort in the middle of nature and mountains, the sort of experience you read about and dream of. For context, I’m Egyptian, was born and raised in the US, and studied and trained at Cambridge UK and Harvard USA.
