Holland House

Mirjam made our six nights in Holland House memorable, handling the B&B on her own while her husband was away. She was wonderfully kind and generous, and helped with all sorts of requests, from vegan food and coffee to a birthday and washing and ironing a white shirt marked by seagull guano in Killybegs. Her suggestions for places to visit were useful too. I especially loved swimming at the hidden gem Silver Strand near Malin Beg, in sunny weather, though we did get some rain and clouds that week. The house is peaceful, set in beautiful countryside. We drove out for day trips to Ballyshannon, Mullaghmore, Glencar, Sligo, Donegal Town, Slieve League and Derry. All three rooms are spacious, very clean and have private bathrooms; one is particularly suited to older or disabled guests. My parents, my wife and I were all very happy with the rooms and breakfast. We also enjoyed meeting Bella and Becky, Mirjam's two lovely rescue dogs. Thanks for an unforgettable stay!

Breakfast has become my favourite meal at Holland House. The food and drinks are locally sourced when possible, sometimes from their own garden, and Mirium makes a mean Irish breakfast. They’ve always made sure my dietary needs are covered. I’ve stayed here many times and the experience has consistently exceeded what I expected. I have trouble walking, and the ground floor room, especially its wetroom, lets me stay independent. It’s spacious, clean and tidy, with comfortable beds, a TV, WiFi, tea and coffee facilities, and usually a chocolate bar or crisps. The geothermal heating and scenic views make it easy to get away from it all. Rossnowlagh beaches are a refreshing walk away, with Ballyshannon and Bundorn a short drive. Mirium and John are lovely and welcoming, even when I arrive very late. They’re friendly, always have a kind word, and often share interesting local information.

A big room, a great shower and thoughtful bits from the hosts, including snacks and water. Breakfast had plenty of choice. It’s a lovely, quiet BB location; it may feel off the beaten path to some, but it’s easy to find. Thanks, would recommend.

Beautiful setting, spotless rooms and comfy beds. The hosts were great, and breakfast was amazing.
