The Avon

The view across Blessington Lake is the real draw. A woodland trail opens out onto the lake, and it felt peaceful without being too crowded. The place is easy to get around, with straightforward parking for around 3 euro, a cafe, pizza and kebab options, and even a dog wash area. It all feels well set up without being overwhelming. There’s live music sometimes, especially on weekends or special occasions. A relaxed mix of nature and food if you’re around Dublin or Wicklow.

Having our little one with us was a big highlight, since the venue is dog friendly. We love walking around the lake and the summer vibe, so we chose Docker’s bar for our wedding, with the lake behind us. We were lucky to get a beautiful sunny day, and both the ceremony and small family reception were wonderful. The food was delicious and the staff provided excellent service. I can’t wait to come back and relive those recent memories.

The grounds are beautiful, and the car park was well managed. I came for an Easter event and thought the setup was really nice. The food was reasonable enough.

I didn’t stay at the hotel, but I did try the pizza truck and it was lovely. It’d be great if they put on events and live music on busy days like summer Saturdays or Sundays.
