Anglers Rest

A very welcoming gentleman and an excellent B&B in Carrick. The place was clean and tidy, with everything you need, including a comfortable bed and a hot shower. I’d recommend staying here. Thanks for the warm welcome and hospitality.

The owner went out of his way to make our stay enjoyable and was so helpful and informative. Our room was immaculate, the beds were really comfortable, and breakfast in the morning was lovely and hearty. An absolute gentleman. Thanks a million.

We booked Anglers Rest, Croghan Road Shroankeeragh through a travel booking website, and I still have the invoice if the proprietor wants to see it. The property isn't listed on tripadvisor, which may be because it was a total kip. The proprietor showed us into an old-fashioned chalet where we were expected to pay for electricity by meter. That really happened, it's not a joke or exaggeration. He then said there'd be no breakfast, although other guests were given breakfast. We were offered a different room, and it was cold when we arrived. For EU90, the standard was deplorable. Hospitality was a ham-fisted, lame attempt that would have put Ebeneezer Scrooge to shame. I'm not in the hotel business and am commenting impartially, not for profit. I'm not friends with any competing hotelier or B&B owner in Ireland. I was simply on a holiday weekend trip with another couple to see Nathan Carter, and this chancer and his son took us for a ride. If the owner replies, I'll respond honestly and promptly on this forum. Stayed April 2017.
