The food was a highlight all weekend, including breakfast the next morning. Portions were generous, service was quick even with 140 guests, and the late-night food was especially welcome. The bedrooms were spotless and very comfortable, and the children had plenty of room to enjoy themselves safely. There was also ample secure parking. We had our October 2025 wedding reception at the Avalon in Castlecomer, and the hotel became almost entirely private for the weekend after we booked its 30 bedrooms for guests from home and abroad. Everyone was spread across the reception spaces, and we took over the whole hotel. In the months before the wedding, Laura guided us through the planning. She was responsive, attentive and flexible, and always seemed available. We felt our day mattered to her. She was happy to welcome us for visits as we prepared. On the day, Peter, the general manager, stayed late to oversee everything. The grand entrances and transitions were all carefully managed, and the floor staff were immaculate and courteous. The Avalon also coordinated smoothly with our florists and photographers. The building is a lovely period property, and the Avalon team helped make the celebration unforgettable. Thanks to Peter, Laura and all our friends at the Avalon for such a great job. Ailbhe and Robbie.

We were there for my brother's 60th, and management checked in regularly to see that everyone was happy and looked after. The family room was clean, comfortable and thoughtfully laid out, with bunk beds the kids loved. The staff were great, the decor felt distinctive and considered, the food was very nice, and the facilities were clean.

The sauna nearby, with its river view and hot tub, was a really relaxing part of our stay. We also slept very comfortably, and the meals were excellent in nicely decorated reception rooms. Avalon House has old-world charm, and we found the welcome genuinely warm. We had a comfortable, friendly few days in this lovely small town. Thanks to all the staff.

The guests all loved the gorgeous food, friendly staff and homely rooms. Laura listened to what we wanted and made it happen. She was so invested in the day that she felt like a friend straight away, and she's a phenomenal wedding organiser. Peter and Laura kept everything running smoothly and stayed calm and positive. The Avalon made a perfect private wedding venue, with the whole hotel focused on us. They were incredibly supportive, and I can't thank them enough for making our day so special.

The room was quiet at night, and I slept so well. There was plenty of space, a lovely bathroom with fluffy towels and nice toiletries, and I especially liked the plant paintings in the beautiful decor. Breakfast was a treat, with gluten-free options available. From booking right through checkout, it was a great stay. The staff were attentive, helpful and friendly. I can't wait to come back to Avalon House. It's a real gem.
