It was quiet, peaceful, and comfortable here, and we loved our weekend stay. Bonnie, their pet, showed us the walking trail behind the house and was a delight. Breakfast was so good, and they were friendly and happy to accommodate our requests. They also helped us plan the next part of our trip. We’ll be back ☺️ ☺️

Bonnie, their dog, was a lovely companion outside. She led us along the private path to gorgeous sea and cliff views like an experienced guide. There’s also a beautiful garden with sea views and a picnic bench, though it sits very close to the flower bushes, so watch out for insects. The place is clean and well looked after, with comfortable beds, although the single bed is a bit too small. The sanitary facilities worked well, but the shower room could use some updating. And the fake flowers everywhere are… no comment. The location is quiet and faces the sea in the distance, but I wouldn’t call it panoramic: many rooms, including ours, look onto the parking area. We knew the road to Clifden is narrow, with a few glimpses of the sea. We picked this B&B after seeing its excellent reviews, so it was especially shocking to have such a bad experience. A good B&B needs a good bed, breakfast, and hospitality. The bed was fine, but the other two fell short for us. We knew in advance that payment was cash only, from the booking message and the Booking.com page. Still, we didn’t appreciate being told in the first 30 seconds of the welcome, especially with the big, tasteless “We do not accept credit cards” sign right at the entrance. Breakfast was the worst part, though we’d already had a hint of things with the centipede. At our table there was a tiny jar of jam, already half empty. We hadn’t ordered cooked food and only asked for the jar to be filled. Anne suddenly seemed agitated or irritated and rudely asked, “Do you wanna MORE? MORE? If you wanna MORE, I’ll get you MORE!” She came back with a little more jam and repeated that if we wanted more, we should tell her and she’d get it. The next morning we skipped the jam, which was frankly medium-low quality, and took honey instead. Even so, Anne came into the room and said, “Oh yes, you want MORE jam! I’ll get you MORE!” You’d have had to be there to see how bewildering, disturbing, and unpleasant her behaviour was. We run a restaurant, so we know how much a bad review can affect a reputation. Still, our stay WASN’T pleasant at all, and I’m sorry, more for us than for you.

The rooms are clean and cosy, and the surroundings are beautiful. Anna, the landlady, is friendly and helpful. It’s excellent value for money and a perfect place to relax and rest.

The owners are very friendly, and it’s an excellent place to stay. Fantastic breakfast 😍 There’s a private guest walk to the cliff. 5🎖️

The hosts were professional and so helpful, nothing felt like too much trouble. The house was spotless, the bed very comfortable, and breakfast was very good. Rockmount is in a lovely setting with nice walks nearby. We had a fantastic stay and would happily return. I’d recommend it to all my friends. Top marks 👍👍👍👍
