Talbot Hotel Clonmel

The food was delicious. We had fish and chips and featherblade steak, then lemon tart. The fish and chips was especially good, though everything was excellent. The pool, sauna, steam room and jacuzzi were fabulous, and the pool receptionist helpfully gave me two towels without my asking, one for drying my hair. We felt relaxed from the moment we walked in. Catriona welcomed us with friendly chat and checked us in quickly and efficiently. Everything was spotless, from the room and halls to the public areas and tables. The room had lovely, comfortable beds and we slept really well. The staff kept going above and beyond, with genuine friendliness and professional service. Special thanks to Yola, Stacey and Dave for taking such good care of us, along with everyone in the restaurant and bar. These polished little touches are a theme here, the people working there are just lovely. It's the loveliest hotel we've stayed at in a long time. We'll be back, and I'd recommend the Talbot on Clonmel 100%. A gem of a hotel made even better by its lovely staff!

The rooms were clean, comfortable and really modern, and we stayed at the hotel after the celebration. We held my dad’s 70th birthday at the Talbot, and the night went brilliantly. Molly, the events coordinator, listened to all our requests, while Dean and Jason helped keep everything running smoothly. The events team and the rest of the staff were fantastic, with great attention to detail and top class service. We’d highly recommend the Talbot in Clonmel.

The little bag of treats left in the room for my toddler was a lovely touch. My friend and I stayed with them, and from check-in through checkout a lovely receptionist was warm and helpful, though I can’t remember her name. We were delighted with the stay. The leisure centre changing rooms were confusing to navigate, and the room listing said there’d be a bath, but there was only a shower, which disappointed my toddler a bit.

The cold room was especially concerning because I was travelling with a disabled child who is particularly vulnerable to low temperatures. There was no heating, which felt negligent and unsafe. Breakfast was bland and badly prepared, and portion sizes varied and didn’t match what we ordered, except, notably, when the hotel manager was there. The towels had visible holes, too, which shouldn’t happen in a hotel and pointed to poor quality control. Service was poor throughout our stay at the Talbot Hotel Clonmel. Staff were dismissive and unprofessional, and one housekeeping staff member bluntly asked, “When are you leaving?” It was disrespectful and left us feeling rushed and unwelcome. Taken together, the lack of care for our comfort and basic hospitality standards made the visit deeply unpleasant. I left disappointed and genuinely angry. I expect these concerns to be taken seriously and addressed urgently. No guest should face the conditions and treatment we did.
