Collon House

Michael was a charming host and really went the extra mile. I had a wonderful stay with my father last month. The house and gardens are stunning. Highly recommended.

The French room was lovely, and the house itself is amazing. We stay in country houses like this a lot, and this was one we really enjoyed. Michael was welcoming and shared lots of interesting facts about the house. Breakfast was tasty and wholesome, with great food and service. There are some nice bars and restaurants around the village too. We’d happily stay here again and recommend it to friends.

This old house seems to wind on forever, and staying there felt like stepping back in time. We liked the bed best in the "Speaker's" room. There’s off-street parking, and the traditional Irish breakfast was great. The host was lovely to talk with over tea or coffee before we went to dinner after a day of sightseeing. We stayed the first two nights and then our last night in the country. It’s far enough from Dublin to escape the traffic, but close enough to drive back in if you want. After one day battling Dublin traffic on the way out, we went across the street to Watters pub for excellent fish and chips and Guinness, of course. Highly recommend.

We only spent one night at Collon House, but it was magical. It’s a distinctive place, full of history and character, and sitting by the fire with good conversation was a real pleasure. Michael and John made everything comfortable and memorable, with thoughtful touches throughout. They greeted us with tea, and the electric blankets and hot water bottles waiting in our beds were a lovely surprise. We appreciated the genuine, warm hospitality and hope to return next year.
