Blakehill House

We had such a good time at Theresa's with her family, and the price was very reasonable for the Lough's area. Theresa welcomed us warmly when we arrived and went over the house rules. The house, garden, and surroundings are beautiful, and the room was cozy, lovely, and had all the comforts we needed. It'd be ideal for a quiet break away from the city. We'd definitely return. This was a very disappointing B&B stay. There was no shared space where guests could sit and socialize. Her bio talks about famous home baking and a delicious breakfast, but what was offered was a self-serve continental spread with cold cuts, cheese, and store-bought bread. Hot breakfast cost 7.50 euros. I ordered it, to her dismay, though she didn't charge me. Three of the five jelly packets were already open and partly used when I went to put some on my toast. The hand towels didn't look freshly washed either. Not acceptable.

The owner is a champion, and this was the best B&B we've stayed in for a long time, maybe ever. We got a lovely continental breakfast before leaving in the morning. On arrival, we were handed two pints of Guinness, then about an hour later there were two big bowls of french fries, sausages, and chicken. No charge for any of it. You couldn't ask for better hospitality.

Teresa was a perfect host. We had a lovely stay near Cong, between two large lakes.
