Gabriel House Guesthouse

The room was very small and too hot, with no way to adjust the temperature. Since it was on the ground floor facing the terrace, people walked right past the window and there was no privacy. The bathroom door wouldn't close properly, and breakfast was just okay. The hotel itself is nice, though not amazing, quite old-fashioned and missing many features of modern hotels. It's on a hill, within walking distance of the city centre. The stay was adequate and mediocre, and definitely not worth the price. We wouldn't return. My husband and I had booked a stay with our little dog but had to leave early because of a medical emergency. We'd paid in advance and asked for a refund for the nights we couldn't use. The hotel refused to refund any of our money, including the extra charges for breakfast and bringing our dog. They offered no date change or concession for a future stay. When we emailed to explain our disappointment, they ignored us. Very disappointing from a small business.

The garden was my favourite part, along with the peaceful, beautiful sauna, such an amazing treat! Breakfast was absolutely divine, and we even got to meet the chickens that lay their eggs. The room was small but so cosy and had everything we needed. The kettle for a first cuppa in the morning was a bonus. An absolute gem!

Breakfast made us happier than we expected, with a gorgeous buffet of treats and a menu for a hot, delicious meal. Before that, we'd had a good night's sleep in a quiet room, with a great hot shower and views of the river. The place was in a super location, spotlessly clean, and the staff were very nice and knowledgeable. I heartily recommend it.

Breakfast was a real plus, with the usual buffet and a good range of freshly prepared choices from the menu. The location is very central, and the guest house has a cute traditional Irish interior. But the rooms felt outdated, more like a 2 star hotel, and the soundproofing was poor. We could hear everything next door, so sleeping at night was difficult.
