The leisure centre was class, and the rooms are stunning and spacious. There are water fountains everywhere for refilling bottles, and the staff were nice and friendly. The breakfast and bar service, though, was atrocious. Both mornings the breakfast bar was nearly empty by 9am, with people waiting to be seated and waiting for tea, coffee, and food. The juice jugs, pastry trays, and hot food were all empty. We were there for a wedding, so it wasn’t as if we were the only guests. For ages, one woman was seating everyone and doing all the work, bless her. At the bar, two women were working but neither was allowed to pour pints. The staff seemed new and needed proper training and management on hand instead of being left alone. It all felt poorly run.

The Girlie Getaway was great value for our overnight stay at the Talbot Hotel. Staff were attentive and friendly, and the food was good. Our room was excellent, large and spotlessly clean, with comfy beds and a modern bathroom.

We liked the water fountains for refills, and the modern fixtures and fittings were good. Our room was spacious and comfortable, the location was good, and the staff were friendly. I took one star off because it could have been cleaner. The carpets in our room didn’t seem to have been vacuumed properly before we checked in. We stayed two nights.

We had an issue with the heating in our room, but one of the managers brought us a heater and couldn’t have been more helpful. My sister and I did the bestie offer and thoroughly enjoyed it. The service was first class, the food excellent, and the value was so good. I’d definitely recommend it.

There was no view from our room, but it was a nice size and the beds were comfortable. Breakfast had nice options, the location was great, reception staff were friendly, and the pool was very nice. When we arrived there was just one towel and no slip mat, so we had to collect more. The toilet’s strong-flush option was broken, and they didn’t fix it after we reported it.
