The Metropole Hotel

The reception team were lovely and welcoming, and breakfast and its service were great. The location is central too, near the bus station, bars, and shops. But the room wasn’t worth what we paid, even with a Black Friday discount. It was small, stuffy, dated, and not the cleanest. The only window was frosted, opened just a little, and looked onto a brick wall. The TV took a while to start, its cable at the back felt loose, and a constant buzzing from somewhere in the hotel kept going all night. I wouldn’t recommend it at that room price.

The staff were friendly and attentive throughout, and having breakfast included meant we could order anything on the menu. We also enjoyed ending the evening at the hotel bar. We came by AirCoach from Dublin, and the hotel was just five minutes down the road. The entrance is elegant, with a charming lobby for tea. Our bathroom had an odd shape, but we managed fine.

The room was clean and comfortable, and the whole place had a calm, relaxing feel. Staff were welcoming and helpful, and the convenient location made our stay easy. Breakfast was fresh, tasty, nicely presented, and offered a good range of choices. We really enjoyed our time here and would happily stay again.

Eamon really gives the place its charm. It was lovely chatting with you! The rooms are simple, clean, and comfortable, and both the bar staff and night porter were warm and welcoming. I was surprised by how spacious the breakfast room was, with classic but contemporary furnishings. The coffee was great. I didn’t really feel like eating breakfast, but it’s cooked to order, which is usually best.
