The Abbey Hotel Donegal

We ended up stopping here unexpectedly after a problem with our car while on a week-long family holiday in Donegal. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, especially with my 4-year-old son, and nothing seemed like a problem. The hotel was spotless and had a good selection of food and drink. It's right in the centre of town, too. We'd definitely recommend it and plan to come back for a proper stay soon.

For a one-night stop, the location was handy for town. Parking took a bit of figuring out, either street spaces out front or a car park about a three-minute walk away. The room was only okay. There was a noticeable toilet smell, and the mattress felt worn and really needs replacing. It worked for a short overnight stay mainly because of the location, though the comfort could be better.

We had a brilliant weekend for my 50th on the 22nd November. The staff couldn't do enough for us. There was a bottle of bubbles and a card in my room, then another from the restaurant where 11 of us had dinner. The entertainment carried on into the wee small hours, and everything was perfect. We will be back very soon. You should be proud of your staff.

I was travelling with Lomond Travels by bus, and the hotel made the trip worth it. I'm disabled and found it easy to get around both the hotel and the nearby shops. The room was massive and clean, with a view, and the shops are right on the doorstep. The staff were lovely and welcoming, including the bar staff. When I was walking with crutches, a staff member carried my food tray to the table, that's what I call great service. The food was outstanding. I'm home now and already can't wait to visit again.
