Farmleigh Guesthouse Donegal Town

The short stroll to Donegal Town Centre made exploring easy, while the place was far enough away for a peaceful night without disturbances. There was ample parking too, which was a bonus for travelling by car. Farmleigh Guest House was immaculate throughout, from the washroom to the kitchen, with neatly made beds and a well-equipped kitchen that had everything we could need. The cleanliness really stood out and made the stay more comfortable and reassuring. You could see that the hosts took pride in keeping hygiene to a high standard. Farmleigh Guest House exceeded my expectations. It’s a comfortable place with excellent amenities and a convenient location near Donegal Town Centre, and it was spotlessly clean.

Never again! There’s no sound insulation. Other tenants rang the doorbell at 3 a.m. and walked around the house until 5 a.m. It was far too noisy to sleep, even with earplugs. A sleepless night, a horror.

The welcome and hospitality here were the best we came across in Ireland. We stayed in September 2020 and had a fabulous time. It’s an easy five-minute walk into town, and the shared kitchen has a fridge where guests can leave food or drinks. Paul, the owner, also owns The Harbour restaurant in Donegal. We had the most incredible meal there, better than anything we’d eaten in many years.

The sheets and pillows were filthy, and I’ve stayed in cleaner hostels. When we arrived, the owner told us the double room we’d booked wasn’t available and offered us a twin instead. We pushed the beds together and asked for a double duvet, but he didn’t have one. It’s a house in a housing estate, and the place was a disgusting dump. Paul replied to my post calling me “mr exaggerator.” I wasn’t after a free stay or anything like that. If I’d wanted something free, I’d have brought a tent. Even that would have been cleaner. I don’t need to exaggerate when a picture says it all.
