The room was kept clean every day, and being close to downtown restaurants and shops was especially useful in the cloudy, wet weather. The Address is in a great spot right in Sligo’s centre, with a great spa and gym. It was the only hotel gym we liked during our whole three-week trip around Ireland. We’ll definitely stay here again.

We came for an unexpected stay while a family member was in hospital, and the staff made a hard time much easier. The receptionists were so friendly, and the next morning they even asked after our father when we’d mentioned he was in hospital. The gym was a surprise too, very modern and packed with equipment. We ate in the restaurant, where the food was fantastic and the service brill. The waiters were lovely, and the hotel, reception, restaurant and rooms all look beautiful. The Christmas decorations were so nicely done. We’ll 100% be back.

It’s just a short walk to Sligo town’s attractions, and parking nearby at The Glasshouse costs only six euros overnight. My room was gorgeous, spotless, and had dormer windows looking out over the river. The one hassle is that the hotel doesn’t take cash.

Dinner on January 1st 2026 at 8pm was a real letdown. I’d gone without food all day because I was excited for my first delicious meal of 2026. The potato and leek soup with Guinness bread was heartbreaking. My friend’s garlic butter chilli prawns seemed to have no salt in them, and she could feel her BP rising after eating them. I played it safe with the burger after the soup, but it was cold, leathery and dry. I asked for pepper sauce, and got a thin, watery sauce that was another disappointment. I was so hungry I managed half the cold, tough burger and bread, but couldn’t finish it. The sweet potato fries were good, though. The kids pepperoni pizza and three scoops of ice-cream were good, and she enjoyed them. The waiter was good too. Would I eat at The Address again? I’m not sure.

The restaurant dinner was excellent, though the service there felt unprofessional. A man in a suit took our order without introducing himself, so we couldn’t tell whether he was the manager or a waiter. We paid €65 there, €130 for the room and €30 for late checkout, and expected more care and attention. This was supposed to be a special treat for my wife and me, but it fell well short. The discount issue started with an online booking on Thursday, 2nd October. I saw that the Rory’s Travel Club discount hadn’t been applied and called at 7:44 PM that evening. I was told someone would get back to me, but no one did. At arrival, reception could see a note to contact me and admitted nobody had followed up. I then got different explanations: the 10% members discount was already included, the late booking add-on ruled out Rory’s discount, or staff couldn’t adjust the price in their system because the discount was only available online. I tried to cancel and rebook, but was told there was a 24-hour cancellation policy. The website showed the room price with the 10% members discount already included, while still displaying a banner for a 10% member discount, which made it look as if there should be another reduction. There was no place to enter a Rory’s Travel Club code at checkout either. I’d also paid extra for late checkout, but staff interrupted us at 12:17 PM without apologizing. Reception called shortly afterward to confirm the late checkout, which rather defeated the point. During the night, constant drumming, probably from a trolley, came through even earplugs and disrupted our sleep. At checkout I asked to speak with the duty manager. After a wait, the manager apologized and promised to email me, but I’ve heard nothing. There was no offer of compensation, not even for the coffees we bought while waiting. The poor communication, unresolved discount problem and service issues overshadowed what could have been a pleasant stay.
