Windsor Lodge

The hospitality is good, which is why I’ve become a regular customer at WINDSOR LODGE Ranikhet.

John had maps printed from the computer for us at breakfast after hearing about our plans for the next day. He also shared lots of great stories about the places we were going to visit. The breakfast was delicious. The owner had been helpful over the phone too, giving us directions when we couldn’t find our way. Our room was very clean and comfortable, with a newly renovated en suite bathroom. It was a positive experience all around.

The owner was excellent, and the full English breakfast was brilliant. My room was in a separate building, which was fine, but it didn’t seem fully finished. The shower didn’t work, the door wouldn’t lock from inside, there was no bathroom mirror for shaving, and the TV was propped up on the dresser. Apart from that, it was fine.

The place was very clean, the bed comfortable enough, though softer than I like, and breakfast came out hot. The busy intersection right beside the B&B meant a lot of traffic noise. What disappointed me most was how indifferent everyone we met seemed. They did their jobs, but there was little sense that they cared about welcoming guests. Maybe they’d just had a couple of bad days, but I left feeling like it made no difference to them whether my wife and I were there. If they don’t care, I guess I shouldn’t either. I don’t want to spend my money somewhere that feels like that, so I’ll look for other accommodation on future visits to the area.
