The room was quite nice, though a bit noisy at night. It felt like a family hotel, with lots of kids running and playing around the reception and restaurant. On our first night we ordered two burgers in the hotel restaurant and waited over an hour for them to reach the table. Staff apologized a lot, but it didn’t help much by then. The service was clearly poor. The hotel is outside Dublin city centre, so you need a taxi or bus to reach the pubs and shops downtown.

I like this hotel. I’ve stayed in several places in the UK, Europe, and North Africa, and this is the best so far. The staff have been friendly and helpful, even calling ahead to check details like parking and opening times for us. The food is very good, the kitchen seems well run, and the bar staff are polite and helpful. Food prices are a little high, but guests get 15% off if you remind whoever handles your bill. Reception has plenty of local information, including maps and bus times. I can recommend this hotel to anyone.

The bar service is disastrous. I’ve complained on four separate occasions, and each time I got profuse apologies, but it’s the same the next time. Why do I keep going back? It’s handy for meeting people, and I keep forgetting how bad it is.
