Herbert Park Hotel

I always look forward to coming back to this absolutely superb hotel. The rooms are clean and comfortable, and manager Gratzna and her excellent staff look after them. The team are professional, courteous, and respectful, making the stay a pleasure. Dining is great, and the hotel is close to all the amenities in South Dublin.

The park right beside the hotel is large and peaceful, and restaurants, shops, and businesses are an easy walk away. I stayed for a week, and most nights were quiet, apart from one night when hotel staff had a loud conversation right outside my door. The room was fine until I took a bath on my last day and saw that the water was BROWN. I checked the sink and it was brown there too. It wasn't dark enough to show in a glass, but I'd been drinking it all week. Staff that night said this happens sometimes and is safe. The next morning, staff said it was from construction work, and that the plumbers thought it might happen but didn't know where or when. Breakfast was pretty good, and the staff were pretty good too.

After a long day of travel, Paolo was such a welcoming face at reception. He found us a room early and even upgraded us, so we could get out and start exploring Dublin. The hotel is easy to walk from to pubs and restaurants, while still being away from the tourist areas. People throughout were friendly, including the local folks we met.

The breakfast was one of the best I've had, and the dining room had lovely views. Our room was spotless, with a really nice bathroom, though I did miss having a wardrobe to hang clothes in. The hotel itself is excellent, and the waiters were attentive and friendly. Reception staff were welcoming at both check-in and check-out. There's a beautiful park right on the doorstep. Will visit again.
