No. 9 Rathgar

I’ve stayed here several times and would recommend it. It’s a safe, convenient location, with easy self check-in and clean beds and rooms that have the amenities you need. You can adjust the heating, there’s a small fridge in the room, and plenty of parking at both the front and back. Extra towels are available in the halls if you need them.

The room and lobby both had a strong sewage smell, and the single room I got looked nothing like the photos on comparison sites or the hotel’s own website. The furnishings were clean but very worn. It’s self check-in, which is fine until something goes wrong, and there was no receptionist or manager on site to help. I arrived very late and had to stay the first night, but cancelled the second. This kind of place gives Dublin a bad name.

Great location, and it’s a cheap, cheerful option if you’re visiting Dublin. You get what you pay for, though. If you’re after a nice, fancy hotel, this isn’t the place.

I was really shaken and disappointed by my stay. Check-in was very lukewarm, but the bigger issue was the guest next door. He was shouting, banging on the walls, and pacing all night. I suspected drug use. When I asked him to turn down the music, he put a very suspicious white powder on his nose. I reported it to the front, but there wasn’t actually anyone there, so I texted him and got no response. No security came to check, nobody offered to move me, and I felt there was no care for my safety. It was terrifying to feel management was turning a blind eye to what seemed like illegal and dangerous activity on the premises. If your safety and peace of mind matter, do NOT stay here.
