The location was good and the staff polite. Beyond that, the experience was very disappointing. I accidentally booked May 2026 instead of May 2025 through Booking.com in April 2025, and only noticed the mistake when I arrived in May 2025. The property was fully booked, so I had to find and pay for somewhere else on the spot. I contacted them the next day to ask for a cancellation, explaining the major loss to me and that they had a full year to resell the room. I tried repeatedly through the property and Booking.com customer service, but they wouldn’t help or offer a reasonable option. They eventually said they could try to resell it in March 2026, but wanted to keep 30% of the booking plus extra fees, despite comparable rooms for those dates selling at much higher prices. Rather than lose the entire booking, I passed the stay to a relative. He also found it disappointing: cleanliness was average, the room was tired, housekeeping didn’t happen daily, there was no shower gel or complimentary water, and the tea and coffee setup was very basic with no snacks or biscuits. Poor value for the price. Good location, but I wouldn’t book here again.

The room was lively but not so loud that we had to raise our voices to talk. Even with just one server working that night, the service was super friendly and quick. It was our first meal in Dublin and the food absolutely delivered. Five stars from us.

The minced pie was a comforting choice too, but the Guinness stew was probably one of the best things I ate in Ireland. It tasted homemade and was just right. I was working across the street for a few days and found this pub on a quieter corner of Trinity. It’s hard to call anywhere around there non-touristy, but this place didn’t seem to be trying too hard to please the crowds. The tables around us had professors, academic workers, and students, just regular people stopping in for a pint and a good meal.

My friends went for the Spice Bag and said it was delicious. I had chicken tenders, chips, and garlic cheese bread, and really enjoyed the meal. It was my first time here tonight, but after such a pleasant evening, I’ll certainly be back with friends.

This is about the accommodation, not the restaurant. The room was okay, but the bathroom had a ceiling leak, the soap dispenser was coming loose, and the toilet flush didn’t work reliably. We weren’t clearly told that parking had to be booked in advance to get a discount at the garage. It’s also a ten-minute walk from the hotel and had no staff on site. The accommodation is next to the restaurant, which opens at 10am, and there’s no way to reach accommodation staff before it opens. The location and price are the best parts, though you get what you pay for.
