The Louis Fitzgerald Hotel

Amy and Jade at reception made me feel valued, with their warm welcome, friendly manner, and attention to detail. They clearly take pride in their work and put in extra effort to make guests feel cared for. Check-in was quick and smooth, and they patiently and professionally answered my questions. Customer service like theirs makes a real difference. They're a credit to the Louis Fitzgerald Hotel, and I'd happily stay again knowing staff like them would be there to welcome me.

The room was clean and had all the amenities I needed. I was glad to have a bathtub after all the walking, and the staff were helpful with everything, which made our St. Patrick's Day outing in Dublin much easier. It's a good hotel if you'd like to be away from the city center bustle. The trade-off is a 15-minute walk to either a bus stop or tram stop, then usually another 30-45 minutes to reach the city center.

We chose this hotel because it's fairly close to the airport, and stayed just one night. Parking was great, the staff were friendly, and breakfast was tasty, though the area was crowded and loud. Our room was clean but old and run down, and had a very intense smell. There was only a small window to open for fresh air, though I doubt a larger one would have changed much. Our daughter is very sensitive to smells because of her neurodivergency, and she had a hard time staying in the room without feeling sick. I'm sure the smell would bother anyone at least somewhat. We also left something behind in the room. That's on us. We called the hotel, and housekeeping was supposed to contact us, but hasn't so far. It's been a few days, and I doubt we'll hear back. Maybe there was a miscommunication at the hotel, which can happen, but it's disappointing. The place is okay for one night.

What happened in the corridor was unsettling. When we opened the secured door to the rooms, the smell of cannabis was immediate and very strong. Two drunk men were struggling to get into a room they said was 318; ours was 303. One was loud and intimidating, and even said someone was getting very high. I can't understand how that smell didn't trigger an alarm. Reception staff didn't check on the men either. The room itself wasn't clean. There were visible bits of white fluff on the floor, and the shower was awful, with scale showing straight away. We arrived late and were told there was no room available, although we'd booked weeks ahead. First they offered us a different room, then after about 20 minutes we finally got the right key. That was a sign of what was to come. I normally leave good reviews and struggled to post this one, but it was true. It was midnight, so I wasn't going to complain then. In the morning I left my key on the counter and walked out. I've never experienced anything like it. I emailed as they asked, and five days later there was still no reply. Customer care was totally lacking. For a place called a 4-star hotel, it felt and operated more like 2-star at best. Very disappointing.
