The Spencer Hotel

The hotel was very clean, and the rooms and bathroom were so nice. The standout was the amazing amenity center. The pool, gym, sauna and hot tub were all state of the art, perfect for me as an athlete who loves working out on holiday. The one thing I didn’t like was that my king bed was made from two twins pushed together. I wasn’t happy about that, and the setup really wasn’t pleasant for me.

The location is very central, easy to walk to everywhere, and the coach to the airport was €10 and took about 15 minutes. Breakfast was great, the room was spacious, and the beds were very comfortable. It was a bonus that the windows opened. We didn’t use the spa, but we did enjoy the jacuzzi, sauna and steam room. I’d left my straighteners at home, so it was handy that the changing rooms had some. Really lovely hotel and a great find. I’d highly recommend staying here.

The airport bus stops right outside, which made getting around so easy. We had a really enjoyable Dublin trip here, with great rooms, food, drinks, and staff. I'd happily come back.

The laundry situation was a mess. I left it counted, signed, and sealed in the room, but housekeeping left the bag there. Reception said I should have brought it downstairs, though the slip didn't say that. Two days later it still hadn't come back, and I was told I had to pay before they would return it. Housekeeping also started at 8 a.m. every day, shouting to each other along the floors and making it impossible to sleep in. I was there for a week and could give plenty more examples. The Spencer only makes sense if you need to be near the Convention Centre. There are better hotels nearby, and this one has little charm, personality, or sense of hospitality. Breakfast was included in my room rate but felt like something from a school hostel. At those prices, that's shameful. If you stay, I'd book without breakfast and eat at Sprout or one of the nearby restaurants. Room service was just as frustrating. I ordered a chicken burger and charged it to my room, but halfway through eating, someone knocked to demand cash because there was no credit on my room. I was surprised, since I'd given the receptionist my credit card at check-in for that purpose.
