We spent just one night here 5 years ago because we couldn’t book anywhere else, and it’s become a story we tell like a meme, though not fondly. There’s too much to fit into a short review: water dripped from the ceiling, our room was in the basement, there were no refunds, the decor looked like it came from an 80's flea market, and payment was required in advance. I’ve slept better with nomads in the middle of the Mongolian desert than I did at Zion guest house. Avoid it. I don’t expect anything to have improved since our visit.

Paul was very friendly and keen to help, along with the other staff we met, which went a long way toward making up for the place’s shortcomings. I’m not sure whether he owned the guest house or just ran it. The rooms were clean and adequate, but the property could use some work and upgrades. It has a quaint, old-world feel.

In August, I emailed Zion Hall guesthouse in Dublin to ask for a room for this Tuesday. They said there was availability and quoted a price, which I accepted. When I called tonight to check how to arrive and pay, I was told every room had been taken. The person who spoke to me gave no name and offered no apology or sign of regret. I’ve just had an appalling experience. This is a shameful way to handle things, and future guests should know.

The rooms weren’t very clean, and the location is too far from downtown. I also paid the full amount for my stay by card, but they charged an extra 50 euros for a duplicate room I never used. They have taken 50 euros from my account after I had already paid. NOT RECOMMENDED AT ALL.

A comfortable place with nice, big rooms. Nothing fancy, but it’s a good place to stay. The bus ride takes 20 mins from the city center and an hour from Dublin airport.
