The Midway Bar & Guesthouse

We loved ending long days of sightseeing with a pint in the bar downstairs, and the sunset view out back was breathtaking. The little car park behind the building was handy, too. Inside, the rooms are cute and good value, and the food was exactly what we wanted after the long journey. Breakfast was a highlight: the fresh fruit bowl was a lovely surprise, and Paula’s pastries were the best we had on the trip. Paula made us feel like family right away and even walked us to the car to hug us goodbye. The Midway was a great part of our Ireland holiday, and we’d happily stay again.

I got chatting with Micky Joe from Burtonport in the bar. Such a kind, welcoming guy. The staff were lovely, and the food was beautiful. Our bedroom was spotless, warm, and the bed was really comfortable. Great value for an overnight stay. I’ll definitely be back.

Paula was such a delightful host and did everything she could to make our stay pleasant. The room was cold at first, but she brought us another heater without even being asked, so it wasn’t a problem. The rooms are spacious and very clean, though a few pictures on the walls would make them feel more finished. The hotel is right in the middle of town, which is hard to beat. We’d definitely come back if we’re in town again.

We tried another pub, and I’d visit this one again if they’d let me! It felt more like a men’s bar during the day, though food seemed to be served in a seating area at the back. We sat by the window and had a pleasant time. My wife’s cider glasses had lipstick on them twice, so they really need checking after washing. The window sill in the main bar also looked as if it hadn’t been cleaned for weeks. I know that sounds critical, but it stood out.
