Knockaderry House

Mary and Gerry made our ten nights in September so special. Ennis was a meaningful part of the trip for me, and they helped make it everything I hoped for. They were warm and helpful, always going out of their way for us. Leaving brought plenty of tears and hugs. Thank you both for making an already special trip even more so. I didn't manage to get a photo with them, sadly, and would love to come back someday.

Breakfast was wonderful, and Gerry was an excellent host. I arrived extraordinarily early because of my own poor planning, and he was more accommodating than he needed to be. The next day, he even gave me a lift to Doolin. The rooms are lovely, in a lovely old home, and it's a very quiet spot away from foot and car traffic. The location gets five stars from me, though it's a bit far from the town centre, since that isn't the host's fault.

Gerry was so kind, helpful and discreet, and he made us a delicious breakfast with fresh fruit and warm, homemade scones. We stayed one night at Knockaderry House while driving from Dublin to Galway. The fascinating old house was once a dairy farm and has been recently renovated, while keeping the feel of an old palace. The breakfast room's fireplace, stone floor and walls, and old-style furnishings all add to that atmosphere. It's close to Ennis' centre. Highly recommended if you'd like the experience of sleeping in a 19th-century palace!

We spent a week and a half at this B&B and had a lovely time. The area is quiet and peaceful, and there's a nice outdoor sitting area. Ennis town centre is about a five-minute drive, or probably a 40-minute walk, and a grocery store is only ten minutes away on foot. Gerry and Mary were welcoming and kind, always checking that things were okay and asking if we needed anything. Our room had two comfortable twin beds and a nice private bathroom. Gerry served breakfast every morning: yogurt with granola and berries, a basket of scones and other breads, cold cereal, and orange juice, tea or coffee. Book here, you won't regret it.
