Old Ground Hotel

We loved the cosy lounges, especially the residents' area with its soft sofas and always-lit fires. Our family weekend at the Old Ground brought back lots of memories, and the staff made us feel welcome and helped us throughout. The hotel is right in central Ennis, convenient for shopping and exploring. Our room was spacious, elegantly decorated and had a very comfortable bed. Dinner in the Town Hall restaurant was excellent, with delicious food and plenty of choice. Natalia was especially attentive and patient with our big group. A wonderful stay.

The bar had a great atmosphere, and the food was amazing. Sarah at reception checked us in with real professionalism and warmth. We were looked after from arrival right through to leaving, and the room was amazing too. A wonderful night away, highly recommended.

The lobby and restaurants stayed lively all evening, which gave the hotel a cosy feel. We found the staff welcoming and helpful, and our room was clean and well equipped. Shops, pubs and restaurants are all an easy walk away. We had a wonderful stay at the Old Ground Hotel in Ennis.

The bar and restaurant food was excellent, and I really liked having breakfast served at the table instead of choosing from a buffet. I came with five friends and had booked a triple and a twin. They managed to arrange three single beds in the triple as I’d requested, and that room was airy, spacious and excellent. The twin on the fifth floor needed some attention and felt a bit worn. Its beds were pushed together, almost like a double, and the room kept getting too hot overnight. We turned the heating off, but it seemed to switch itself back on, and we couldn’t use the air conditioning because it was too cold. A porter came up after I called reception on arrival and showed us the controls, though the temperature still wouldn’t regulate properly. The towels were very small, and after the first night’s cleaning they hadn’t replaced the toilet roll, even though it had run out. These were minor issues overall. The staff were lovely and helpful, we enjoyed our stay and would definitely return.
