Queens Hotel and Nightclub

I was so comfortable enjoying my coffee that I stayed a few minutes past closing on Sunday at 6. The girl never said a thing, maybe she could tell I was happy there lol. Nice quiet coffee and a lovely cup, thanks.

Be careful if you book the Queens Hotel. At check-in, I was told there’d be an extra €150 deposit under their non-smoking policy, which didn’t seem fair. I was checking out early and asked when it would be returned. At first the staff said they had to wait for cleaners at 11:30, then I was told they wouldn’t arrive until 4. As I was leaving, I was told the money could take 42 to 48 hours to reach my account. None of this timing had been explained when I checked in. The full 48 hours passed before the deposit came back, and it ruined my trip.

The room was very dated, with an uncomfortable cheap mattress that wouldn’t suit someone with back problems, and a bed that felt small for two. There was a draught around the closed window, though the road view wasn’t too bad. The bathroom looked dirty and was unpleasant to touch anything in. An open door led into the pipework, where there was lots of dust and spiderwebs. There was no hairdryer or iron in the room, as those have to be requested. At check-in, after we arrived late from a several-hour journey, the two receptionists told us a €150 deposit was mandatory under the no-smoking rule because people had smoked before. That felt unfair given the room prices. They gave us key cards but didn’t say which floor or where to go. We got out of the lift on the right floor, then had to search through corridors and doors until we found our room. It would have helped if they’d explained the way. In the morning, we were told it could take over two hours to learn whether the deposit would be returned, since housekeeping had to check for damage or smoking. It was an okay overnight stay, but be aware of the deposit and that it’s not a fancy place.

For what they charged, this was very poor. The blackout blind couldn’t close all the way because a row of about 15 unused hooks on its rail got in the way. They also only warned me about street noise after taking payment. The bigger issue was the shower. After getting soaked Go Karting, I wanted a warm shower before going out, but the water was only lukewarm at best. I asked reception to look into it, and on the second day it was even colder. I reported it again, but nothing happened. Others in our group got just one decent shower over the weekend. The staff didn’t seem surprised, so I suspect it’s an ongoing problem. There was black mould all around the shower too.
