Diamond Coast Hotel

This was an unexpected stop a few weeks ago, and I’m glad we made it. The food was amazing and the staff were really friendly and helpful. Phillipa stood out, a young, energetic woman with such a positive spirit. She’s a credit to the place, and I’ll make sure to visit again when I’m passing.

The food completely blew us away, both for the taste and the huge portions. The chicken wings came with homemade blue cheese dip, the butter chicken brought the taste of India to the table, and the fish and chips were massive. Everything was beyond what we expected. Breakfast had the same good food, served help-yourself style, so it felt relaxed and unrushed. The staff were smiling, easy to talk to, and clearly took pride in what they do. That excellent service and food ended up being the highlight of our hotel stay. The room itself was nice, with a fabulous view, and the water in the little fridge for tea was a thoughtful touch. A couple more milks and another packet of biscuits would have helped us make tea in the evening and morning. There were some things that could be improved: the TV was tiny and hard to see from the bed, the toilet door wouldn’t close, and the towel radiator didn’t work. There were cobwebs over the radiator and bed. We had to switch the radiator on ourselves because there weren’t any other heating controls, and only realized this as the night got colder, though it warmed up quickly.

We had a lovely midweek break, and our W.B Yeats suite was so comfortable and relaxing. The hotel was perfectly clean, and all the staff were friendly and helpful. Sinéad and Eric at the bar were especially nice and couldn’t do enough for us. Sinéad always had a kind word and made sure we had what we needed. I’d definitely stay here again.

The atmosphere was amazing and the service excellent. Phillipa was at the heart of it, with a lovely smile and a gentle way of treating people that stays with you. Some encounters turn into memories. Highly recommend!
