Claremont B&B

The host was lovely and went out of her way to make me comfortable, bringing me a fresh pot of coffee when I arrived after a long drive. Breakfast was a lovely full Irish, with freshly poached eggs made to order. The room and bed were clean and comfortable, and this is a great-value B&B in a quiet cul-de-sac, just a few minutes’ drive from Galway town centre. I’ve already booked to come back with three friends.

The house was so clean and smelled of freshly baked scones. Our B&B host made us feel incredibly welcome. It was the best stay of our trip, and I highly recommend it.

Claremont B & B feels like a real Irish country home, with that warm, family feeling. Ms. Murphy, the owner, was knowledgeable and mega-friendly, and happily talked through a dozen tour options. The rooms and bathrooms were clean, and the Irish breakfast was delicious. There’s local TV too, and getting into Galway is easy, with several local bus options.

This quaint little B&B is tucked away in town, and you’ll probably need a GPS to find it. It was clean, breakfast was good, and the hostess was keen to help. There are plenty of lively restaurants and pubs nearby, though you’d need a car. Galway gets very crowded, with the usual traffic blockages, so allow extra time at peak hours. The upstairs rooms were an OK size and the bathrooms nicely appointed. I’d have preferred Kellybegs or another little place outside town to enjoy Galway’s natural beauty more.
