Druid Cottage

The hosts felt a little short on warmth to me, though I can imagine they’re used to guests arriving late and heading off early. Even so, I’d gladly recommend this comfortable, dependable B&B. It’s a charming cottage with clean rooms, a great breakfast, and a handy base for exploring the Ring of Kerry.

Town is close enough to walk, and there’s a shortcut worth asking about. We enjoyed an evening stroll in for dinner, and I’d happily return, ideally for more than the one night we had. Our room was a good size, with a view over the front garden, plus tea, coffee, a kettle, and a hair dryer. The breakfast was delicious in a beautifully decorated sunroom, where we enjoyed chatting with other travelers and one of our hosts. The table looked lovely, and there were lots of interesting things around the room. The whole house had eclectic decor that seemed to reflect the owners’ travels. Our hosts were welcoming and attentive, so we felt at ease right away. Of the five B&Bs we stayed in, this was easily our favorite.

The shortcut into Kenmare makes it about a 10-minute walk, and this is a great base for spending a couple of days around the Ring of Kerry. Breakfast was shared with the other guests, and having a full Irish gave us a chance to swap stories and meet people. I felt at home as soon as I arrived. The hosts were wonderful and had loads of useful information, and the room was beautiful, with a full bathroom, a really comfortable bed, and plenty of blankets. Quite possibly the warmest, most welcoming B&B I’ve stayed in in Ireland. Can’t recommend it enough.

The bread at breakfast was delicious, and the full breakfast was fresh and homemade. We had such a great stay. The rooms were beautiful and nicely furnished, and the cottage has a quaint feel despite being well renovated and updated. This deserves five stars.
