The host was lovely and welcoming, but the stay was a real disappointment. The property is old and small, Bedroom 1 smelled like a public toilet, Bathroom 2 was much too small, and the beds were worn and saggy. I can't understand the rave ratings. It was the worst place on our two-week trip. We couldn't find the owner because she had gone out, so we left and found much better accommodation around the corner. A total loss of money. Sad.

It felt like a home away from home, and I'd happily recommend it to anyone going to an event at the Kenmare Bay Hotel, which is just around the corner. The room was clean, the BNB is well located, and Melanie gave us a warm welcome. Breakfast was fantastic too, with clonakilty sausages, black pudding, free range eggs, and Denny's rashers. Outstanding.

Breakfast was lovely, and it was great to chat with Melaine and Pat since we were usually the last ones to eat. Nothing was too much trouble for them. Melaine was so good to us, even though she was only weeks away from having her wee baby. Fingers crossed for you. Pat knew so much about places to see and visit. We can't recommend Avelow House enough, and it'll be on my list for a return trip. I also had great fun with their lovely 2-year-old boy, whom I asked to see. Josie Ck on Shannon

A wonderful family, a lovely room, and good food. We had a wonderful stay at Avelow House and highly recommend it when you're in Kenmare.

It had a real family feel, and Pat was great. Being so close to town was handy. I'd definitely stay again.
