Kilkenny Inn

For the price, this is a comfortable little hotel in a convenient spot. I stayed five nights, and the cooked breakfast each morning was a highlight. The room was clean, everything was in relatively good condition, and all the staff were lovely.

Linda(Lynda) and David really stood out, they were absolutely lovely. The women at reception were fantastic and welcoming too, and made us feel at home. The rooms were comfortable and nicely decorated, and downtown was just a couple of minutes’ walk away. It’s a nice hotel, but the staff are what make it amazing. Nothing negative to say, and we’ll definitely stay again.

The room was fine for what we paid, and the location is excellent. The staff were friendly and very helpful. But I’m pretty sure a working elevator should be part of the price. We had to go up and down the stairs several times a day. It feels like the elevator has been broken for a while, with no one likely to fix it soon.

The food was tasty, and the young barman made delicious Espresso Martini. He was a lovely guy, as were the other staff, who were pleasant and very helpful. The hotel is in a wonderful spot for exploring Kilkenny, and the decor felt clean and generally fresh. I’d stay again, but some things need tweaking. The description was misleading about the facilities. It listed satellite TV and fluffy bath robes, but our TV only had saorview stations and there were no robes. There weren’t enough plug sockets for three people, and the lighting was quite dull. The bathroom’s safety bar was missing, which seemed like a hazard. Our room wasn’t serviced during the stay; we were told to take what we needed from the attendants’ trolley, something I hadn’t come across before.
