Aghadoe Heights Hotel and Spa

I’d happily return, and I’d recommend the spa to others. The relaxation areas are gorgeous, and the facilities were exactly what I wanted from a spa visit. I had two treatments: Lauren asked what I wanted from the first one, then gave a thorough, focused treatment that left me feeling lighter and grounded. Bobby did my second treatment and was excellent too, with a more invigorating feel. They both offer a very high standard of care. The rooms are spacious and beautiful, with really comfortable beds. Staff were friendly and attentive, and the hotel is a short drive from Killarney.

The location was lovely, and I had a great massage at the spa, but the thermal suite could use an update. When I arrived, there were used towels and empty cups left around, which made me wonder how often the facilities were being checked. For a place calling itself five-star, I expected better upkeep. Compared with other five-star hotels in Killarney, this one didn't feel on par, and I'd give it four stars at most. We had some unnecessary stress when my childhood teddy bear went missing from the room one day, then turned up in the wash the next. The room itself was spacious and nice, though there were stains on the carpet. One of the bottles of water left for guests had already been opened and used. Breakfast was just okay, not five-star, though the staff there were very friendly. The stay was fine overall, but I booked with high expectations after seeing the hotel named among Ireland's top 100. From arrival, I didn't get a five-star welcome. Nobody offered much help with unloading or reloading our luggage.

Ana and Andrea gave us a really personal, professional massage, 10/10. The spa has what you need to unwind and feel better, and the views are breathtaking. Thank you for making our day, week, and OUR MONTH!!! We’ll be back 💗

The food was enjoyable, though breakfast didn't impress me as much as the other meals. The hotel also had a nice view of Killarney lake. I had a pleasant stay, but for me it felt closer to three or four stars than five, and there’s room for it to deliver the luxury experience it aims for. At reception there was a mix-up about the bill. I’d paid for the room online in full, but was first told I still owed money. They checked the system and corrected it, though more careful service could have prevented the confusion. The spa was the biggest letdown. I used the steam room and heated loungers, and that was about all the facilities offered during my visit. It sits toward the back of the hotel, and the view there didn't add much to the atmosphere. No massages or mini facials were available while I was there, and I could see limescale under the pool water. I enjoyed my time there, but it didn't feel like a luxury spa. I stayed at Aghadoe Heights Hotel & Spa from November 4 to 7, 2025. The welcome at reception felt understated, and the arrival atmosphere didn't immediately feel luxurious. My room was clean and comfortable. I tend to inspect places closely, and noticed a few small dents and faint brown marks on the wall. Minor things, but noticeable for a hotel of this calibre.
