Great Southern Killarney

The staff were the real standout. Everyone we met, from reception and housekeeping to the servers, porters and leisure team, made us feel comfortable and special with so much warmth and hospitality. The hotel is beautiful, and the food and cocktails were lovely too. I never usually write reviews, but this stay from beginning to end deserved one. Thanks for a wonderful time. From now on, The Great Southern will be my choice whenever I’m in Killarney.

I was there for work, but the beautifully furnished room made it a comfortable place to rest and get things done. There were plenty of charging points, tucked discreetly around the room. The bathroom was especially spacious and well designed, with a pretty freestanding bath and a roomy shower cubicle. The toiletries and hairdryer added a touch of luxury, and there were plenty of coffee capsules and teas for breakfast. Breakfast was served in the restaurant’s charming, elegant setting. I’d love to come back soon and enjoy the hotel as a holiday treat. Thanks to all the lovely staff, especially Olana from housekeeping.

The restaurant food was superb, and there was a huge choice at breakfast. We loved the gorgeous bedrooms and very comfortable beds, and the staff were so helpful and friendly. Three of us spent two days at Great Southern Hotel Killarney this week and really didn’t want to leave. I can’t think of anything that needs improving. We’ll be back.

Dinner and breakfast at the Arbour were both very enjoyable. Breakfast was a feast, with loads of choice. We also made good use of the leisure centre, with its pool, jacuzzi, steam room, sauna and well-equipped changing rooms. Towels were supplied. The rooms were spacious, with a Nespresso machine and a choice of herbal teas, and the bar felt cosy with its open fire. The restaurant was glamorous and inviting, also with an open fire. We hadn’t stayed since the Hayfield group took over, and they’ve really refined an already beautiful building. The staff were professional, friendly and kind throughout. We were there for my husband’s 50th birthday, which I was keeping quiet, but the eagle-eyed staff somehow noticed. They upgraded our room, left tasty treats as a welcome gift and even sang him happy birthday in the restaurant. They made us feel very special.
