Carrig Country House

The lake-view room was absolutely worth choosing. I switched off my phone for the whole stay and listened to the birds from the room while looking out over the water. Carrig House had been on my list for over a decade, and when I finally made it, it exceeded my expectations. Claire and Kevin welcomed us so beautifully that it was easy to let go of our busy lives and be looked after. The scenery is out of this world, and there is a real sense of calm as soon as you walk in. I had two thoroughly enjoyable days at Carrig. The service was impeccable, and the food was one of the highlights.

We were staying in a rented house nearby for our holiday and had booked dinner at Carrig. It was absolutely worth the walk up the road. The menu had plenty of variety, and everything was so well prepared, cooked and presented. The dining room has a majestic view, and the staff were wonderfully welcoming and accommodating. What a delicious dinner.

Whenever I visit the area, I make a point of booking a table at Carrig House. Looking out over stunning Caragh Lake makes the setting spectacular, and Claire, Mary and Frank always make us feel welcome and make the visit special. The food is consistently delicious, the selection is great, and the portions are just right. The wine list is amazing too. I wouldn't change a thing and am already looking forward to coming back next summer.

We stayed for two weekends over the past few months, and both were amazing. The breakfasts were cooked to order and delicious, and after a meal we liked relaxing in the intimate, private drawing rooms. In the afternoons, reading the papers with a G&T was pure bliss. The food was perfection on every level, served in a cozy, beautiful restaurant by absolutely brilliant staff. From arrival, the seasoned hosts bring a calm professionalism. One of the best hospitality experiences out there, second to none. Can't wait to return!
