Tara Hotel

I had to be in Killybegs early Sunday morning. After another hotel turned me away at check-in, saying it was closed, I reached the Tara Hotel doors at 1:30 am. I didn't have a booking, but the night porter found me a room straight away, without hesitation. It was warm and spotless, and so were the shower and toilet. Every staff member I met was great, the hotel was too, and the rate came in lower than I expected. I needed somewhere to stay at short notice, and Tara Hotel took care of me. I've heard there are some one-star reviews, and I'd encourage those reviewers to give it another try if they can. I believe there has been a change of ownership and substantial investment. I'll definitely stay again and recommend it to anyone. Well done, Tara Hotel.

I've stayed at the Tara Hotel several times this year for work, and Joan and Erin at reception have always been so welcoming and ready to help. They've sorted out requests like a room with a bath on a cold, rainy day and a charger after I lost mine, making each stay seamless. I've had dinner in the restaurant about five times, and it's been fantastic every time. I'd recommend the feather blade beef. Breakfast is the best I've had in a hotel, made to order with potatoes in the fry and mushrooms. The harbour views are stunning, and in summer you can't beat them. Seeing a seal swimming in the sea made my day. I've also gone down to the cosy bar alone and made friends each time. There's live music too. I'd absolutely recommend staying here.

The hotel looked incredible after its renovation, and the food that day was incredible too, as it always is when we visit the restaurant with our boys. We've been regular visitors several times a year for the last six years. We held our document signing at the hotel on Saturday 22nd November, and the whole experience was second to none. Everyone was incredibly kind and happy to help with any question. Chloe stepped in as our witness and was so lovely to us and the boys. John, the manager, was great craic and sat down for a chat. The hotel really spoiled us. A gem in the heart of Killybegs. Thanks to all the staff, especially John, Chloe and Alannah, the young man who served us, and the lady at breakfast on Sunday 23rd!! My wife and I stopped here for dinner on the way back from Sleave League in September 2025. We were stunned by how good everything was. I haven't eaten a better meal in my life. Absolutely everything was top notch.
