Everything in lovely Kinsale was within walking distance from Friars Lodge, right in the heart of town. It had such a warm, homely feel that we could relax and feel at ease. The breakfast was great too. Staying there felt like getting a welcoming hug.

Even though we arrived close to the end of breakfast, our hosts offered to make eggs or whatever we wanted. It was absolutely delicious, and the smiles and laughter were there in every conversation. We needed somewhere at the last minute after problems with our hotel in Cork. We called Friars Lodge and explained we couldn’t arrive before 9:00pm, and they still told us to come over. The location was great for walking around the beautiful county, with a nice late-night pub around the corner, while the street itself was quiet. We slept fine with the window cracked. It’s also hard to find a place in Ireland that fits three adults, but that wasn’t a problem here; the room we had could definitely fit a family of five. These are the kindest, most welcoming and helpful people you could meet. I could fill a hundred pages about our family’s stay. Our favourite spot of the whole trip, and we’ll stay here again when we’re back in Ireland. I can’t say enough about it.

Mary was kind and very helpful, and breakfast was great. We stayed for two nights as part of a tour. The rooms were very large and clean, though a little dated. The street was quiet, with local attractions an easy walk away.

The staff were wonderful, and everything was within walking distance. We spent one night here, with a spacious room and breakfast included. Late one night, while I was FaceTiming my son in the sitting area, the gentleman on the night shift thoughtfully brought me a glass of water without being asked. He was so kind.

The bed was very uncomfortable for us, which was my one real complaint. Otherwise, it’s a good place: no-frills rooms, a good breakfast, and staff who were super friendly and accommodating.
