Heather House

We’ve been back many times and plan to keep coming. It feels like a home away from home, with a well-equipped shared kitchen for tea and coffee, even though not every room has those facilities. The sitting rooms are beautifully decorated, and the staff are always friendly. It’s a peaceful, cosy place to return to after a day out, with a comfortable bed waiting. You could spend the day watching TV if you wanted, but it makes a much better base for adventures. A restaurant is a minute’s walk from Heather House, and there’s also a local pub and small shop nearby. For Glendalough, walk away from the village centre toward the old woollen mills, where there’s now a shop. A beautiful forest path from there leads straight to Glendalough. The surroundings are stunning, and the location makes everything easy to reach.

We had a perfect stay in the cottage. It was very clean, had great amenities, and looked out onto a lovely garden. The staff were wonderful too.

We had several guests at Heather House for a wedding, including two people aged 85, and they were all very comfortable. The rooms were warm, excellent and very clean. Erica looked after us so well, always capable and efficient, and ready to go the extra mile. We miss hearing her tell us each morning how beautiful we are! Thanks for such an enjoyable stay.

We were glad we picked this spot for a one-night break on the drive from Dublin to Kilkenny. The room was just right, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The gardens and views are lovely, and you can easily walk to the ruins and the hikes around the lakes.
